We're big kids now!

The babies sat in high chairs at a restaurant for the first time and LOVED it. The couldn't get enough eggplant, sigua, and green onion pancakes at this Sichuan restaurant. I am sure we'll be back!

Look what we found at the store! Daddy's favorite fruit!

Back when we were traveling in China, I had to negotiate often for pomelos - Jim could eat an entire one for breakfast!

Merry Times

Some more photos from our time in New York...

Annalise and Zayn enjoying the cloth book gifts from Mark and Melissa.

Annalise hanging out with Great-Grandma Annie and Grandma Ginny:

And I can never resist bath time photos! Thanks again Melissa and Mark for letting us borrow all the baby equipment.

Time to say good-bye :( We'll be back!

Christmas Continued...

The day after Christmas, we had a very nice visit with some of the McKeon side of the family - it was the babies' first time to meet everyone, including Great Grandpa!

It was great fun to see all the kids together!

This picture is actually upside down...Edward is trying to avoid having his picture taken by hiding under the coffee table, but I got him!

Aunt Carol's music box helped to pacify a cranky Annalise, who did not get her nap that afternoon.

Our First Christmas

Our first Christmas was spent at Great Grandma Annie's house on Long Island. Annalise and Zayn had fun meeting so many new people and basked in all the attention.

Difficult to explain...

First Flight!!!

We survived our first plane ride with the kids - and all the way across country, no less! We left the house around 4am in order to drop the dog off at his favorite daycare and leave enough time to drop me and the babies off at the airport, park the car, feed the babies, check-in, etc. Getting through security was a bit a little cumbersome. 8.5 month old baby shoes apparently have to be x-rayed. I was holding both babies and trying to walk through the metal detector when they stopped me and asked me to remove the babies' shoes. Uh, right. With which hand? I can't fault TSA for being too careful, but seriously? I do have to thank them for letting us get use the employee lane and essentially bypass the line. Score!

So after all of that, we get to the gate and wait. And wait. And wait. Our flight ended up being delayed for over 3 hours due to weather in New York. And then another 45 min on the ground once we were all boarded. But the babies took it all in stride, taking their morning nap at the gate. And the delayed timing ended up working out to our benefit since take-off and landing coincided with feeding times. One challenge was to figure out how to go to use the lavatory with a baby in tow, but a lot of parenting involves problem-solving and we figured it out. :) The worst part was that the delay caused us to miss out on seeing all everyone who had gathered at Jim's Grandma's house earlier that evening.

We had window seats in front and back of each other and it was a bit hard being pinned in for so long, but Zayn and Annalise laughed hysterically while playing peek-a-boo with each other. If one was fussy, we'd just start playing. It was a good arm work-out for me!

An early Christmas!

We will be in New York for the babies' first Christmas, so we opened presents at home the day before we left. Annalise and Zayn LOVE all their new toys! Thanks everyone!

Playtime

Just before Christmas, Zayn and Annalise started to sit pretty well, although I still always put pillows behind them because we have hardwood floors.

Musical prodigy in the making? (Probably not since this is the only "piano" we own and it oinks and moos!)

In the morning, when there is time, we love to bring the babies to our bed and play a bit. My three cuties:

Laundry

After folding laundry one day, I put Annalise in the basket for scale and got some cute pics. She's growing fast and won't be able to sit in it with her legs straight for much longer!

Hanging out with our little guy

Zayn was growing some serious mad scientist hair with long tufts on the sides, so I gave him his first hair cut. It was much harder than I anticipated - he is one squirmy dude!
